Mag. Azra Smajić Gačević

Azra Smajić Gačević was born in 1989. She graduated in 2011 from the Faculty of Arts in Sarajevo at the department for comparative literature and librarianship, where she also obtained a Master’s degree in 2013 on the topic of universal bibliographic control and legal deposits.

Since 2014, she has been working at the National and University Library as a bibliographer for articles at the bibliography department.

In 2022, she was appointed head of the Virtual Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Her areas of expertise are universal bibliographic control, legal deposits, national bibliography and bibliographies in general, as well as the cultural and historic heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Since 2017, she has been preparing the Bosnian-Herzegovinian bibliography of supplements in serials. She cooperates on the preparation of the publication Bibliografije bosanskohercegovačkih kalendara, almanaha, godišnjaka, zbornika, šematizama, spomenica i adresara. Knj. 1, autora Muje Koštića.

She is one of the editors of the publication Kulturnohistorijska zaostavština Mehmed-bega Kapetanovića Ljubušaka : (objedinjavanje građe u fondovima Nacionalne i univerzitetske biblioteke Bosne i Hercegovine i Nacionalne biblioteke Austrije) i Kulturnohistorijska zaostavština Silvija Strahimira Kranjčevića : (objedinjavanje građe u fondovima Nacionalne i univerzitetske biblioteke Bosne i Hercegovine o kulturnohistorijskoj zaostavštini Silvija Strahimira Kranjčevića).

She is the author of the bibliography of the journal Bosniaca (1996–2020), which is a special primary and retrospective bibliography and a part of the national bibliography of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

She works on several projects, one of them being the project Europeana 1914–1918: Days of reminiscence of World War I, which started in Germany in 2011 and where she cooperated as the coordinator for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

She is the author of several professional papers from the area of librarianship published in Bosnian-Herzegovinian periodicals and several topical exhibits.

She actively participates in several conferences, seminars, workshops and training sessions.
