From Digital Collections to Living Knowledge Systems: Libraries in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

Abstract

The lecture will examine how artificial intelligence can transform library and information infrastructures beyond the addition of isolated tools. Its central focus will be the transition from

digitized collections and searchable catalogues toward semantically enriched, multilingual, and agent-assisted knowledge systems. Topics will include AI-assisted metadata enrichment, semantic and multilingual search, detection of themes, motifs and contextual

relations between works, translation and transformation of form, and new forms of interaction among librarians, readers, and digital material.
