Prof. dr. Dan Podjed is a senior research fellow at the Institute of Slovenian Ethnology at ZRC SAZU, a full professor at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana, and a subject matter expert at the Institute of Innovation and Development of the University of Ljubljana. He is the founder and executive advisor of the EASA Network for Applied Anthropology and the initiator of the international symposium “Why the World Needs Anthropologists,” which has been held annually since 2013. His primary areas of research include isolation, crises, the relationship between people and technology, sustainable ways of life, and the study of everyday life. The Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency has twice recognized his work as an outstanding achievement in the field of science, in 2011 and 2021. He received the honorary title of Science Communicator of the Year in 2024, awarded by the Slovene Science Foundation.
