Igor Podbrežnik connects theory and research in the fields of librarianship and information science. With a master’s degree in management, he dedicates his time to researching user satisfaction and service quality of Slovenian public libraries. He published several studies using the SERVQUAL methodology to measure service quality and user satisfaction. The most important result of his work is the monograph “Assessment of the Quality of Public Library Services”, published in 2013 (co-authored with Štefan Bojnec).

He was also the director of Medvode Library. On 1 January 2026, he became the president of the Slovenian Public Libraries Association.
