The COBISS system as a source of information for development programmes and projects in Serbia
The databases within the COBISS system in Serbia are a vital source of information for research, development and statistical projects due to the high-quality of bibliographic records, well thought-out data structure within the databases, and consideration of relevant standards. Some libraries design projects based on their local bibliographic databases, whereas other institutions develop services or registers based on the data from the local COBISS databases of their partner libraries in projects. It has been demonstrated that projects that do not surpass the local character and are not developed within the network of the whole COBIS.SR system are not as sustainable, which is why the National COBISS Centre in Serbia prioritizes the development of services that include all member libraries of the shared cataloguing system.
