The role and contribution of the VIBRS centre in the development of libraries, research, culture and education
The paper presents the activities and methods used at the VIBRS Centre, which are aimed at the development of the COBISS system in the Republic of Srpska that proved to be the driving force for library development. Considerable improvement in the development is visible in the various and increased activities of the participating libraries, the considering and adopting international standards in all aspects of library operation and the continuing training of librarians and users, which contributed to the greater visibility of the library as the centre for users with various profiles. The varied selection of services and modern, quick and easy access to information made libraries attractive to young users and the academic community. The activities of the VIBRS Centre are methodically divided into four target groups: libraries, science, culture and education. For each of these areas, the VIBRS Centre plans, defines and performs activities adapted to the target groups with the aim of making use of all the advantages provided by a modern library, designed on the COBISS software and information platform. The performed activities are listed, and the results of the work are presented along with the projects planned for the future.
