Luana Malec is the director of the Central Library Srečko Vilhar Koper, a librarian specialist, has a Master of Science degree in librarianship and a degree in economics. Since 2014, she has been the editor-in-chief of the Slovenian public library portal Dobreknjige.si.

She chairs the Section for Public Libraries at ZBDS. Within the framework of the Association of Public Libraries, she leads the working group for measuring and evaluating the functioning of public libraries, is a member of its management board and a member of the working group for innovation in public libraries. She is also the author of numerous professional and scientific articles.

In 2016, she received the Prešeren Prize of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana for her master’s thesis Album Slovenije, and in 2019 she received the Čopova diploma award for her life’s work in the field of librarianship.
