The modern era and technological progress have brought about a new book form and a new way to distribute and read it. What the electronic book format has achieved is that everything – from literary works to literature in all fields of knowledge – is available to readers everywhere at any time, easily and quickly, without any major limitations. E-book publications in Serbian language are available for purchase on the internet. Serbian publishers are expanding their offer of e-book titles every day. Therefore, the interest in borrowing and using e-books among the members of the “Vuk Karadžić” Public Library in Kragujevac was noticed as well. The library wants to keep pace with the times we are living in and remain an active participant in the lives of its members, so we developed the Vuk eBook application for borrowing and reading e-books. The principal conclusion is that Serbian publishers are not yet ready for this form of collaboration with public libraries.
