With the emergence of artificial intelligence, a new literacy has emerged that had to be accommodated in our language area. With the help of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU), we have obtained a translation/interpretation of the new term and published it on the Knjižničarske novice portal. Thus, the term umetnointeligenčna pismenost is now used for Artificial Intelligence Literacy in Slovenian. The field is expanding and progressing incredibly fast. Every day an article on artificial intelligence literacy is published somewhere. The portal’s editorial team monitors the field and the examples of use in the library sector and informs the professional public with short summaries of articles for different types of libraries.
What about libraries and librarians? In this age of artificial intelligence, libraries are the place where this knowledge will be taught to users and where users could use applications for free, just as they use computers and access the internet.
