The presentation will highlight the experiences of the company Sluš Audio d. o. o. and the Storia platform in developing a digital audiobook lending model in collaboration with libraries in Serbia. Special attention will be given to how the lending system in COBISS integrates the existing library system, membership verification, legal digital content, and a simple user experience. Using the example of collaboration with numerous libraries in Serbia, the presentation will demonstrate what works in practice, where the most common challenges lie, and why digital lending is not merely a technological project but also an educational and communication initiative. One of the key challenges is the gradual shift in the perception of audiobooks, which in our market are still too often associated with blind and visually impaired people, even though they are increasingly becoming a modern way of “reading” for a broader audience. The presentation will demonstrate how to generate demand for audiobooks through popular titles, the active role of librarians, clear communication with users, and collaboration among libraries, digital platforms, and copyright holders. The goal of the presentation is to demonstrate how audiobooks can become a regular, measurable, and sustainable part of a library’s offerings.
