The COBISS Ela platform has become an important part of the digital services offered by Slovenian public libraries. The presentation will discuss the platform’s development from its very beginnings, its improvements as well as challenges and opportunities that arise with the implementation of a national platform for digital reading.
There will be a special emphasis on cooperation with various stakeholders – libraries, publishers, IZUM, professional public and the platform’s users – and managing different interests and needs when developing a common digital service. Key data on the platform’s growth, user habits, and feedback from libraries and readers will also be shown.
The presentation will also highlight the platform’s future developments. In 2026, COBISS Ela launched its own reading app. Furthermore, audiobook integration is anticipated in the future, making literature and other content significantly more accessible. Like so, COBISS Ela has been outgrowing its framework of an e-lending platform and is now evolving into a comprehensive environment for digital reading and listening.
