Suzana Šulek is a librarian at the National and University Library (NUK), where she has been employed since 2010. She holds a degree in English Language and Literature and Slovenian Language and Literature. She began her professional career in 1996 at the library of the Faculty of Education at the University of Maribor (now the Miklošič Library – FPNM), where she performed various tasks, ranging from loan, acquisitions, and inventory of materials to cataloguing and entering bibliographic records for the purpose of maintaining researchers’ bibliographies.
Her field of work focuses on cataloguing, particularly non-book material. She is a member of the Commission for the Development of Professional Foundations of the Union Catalogue, which oversees the professional development of the COBISS.SI system, and the Working Group for the Preparation of Guidelines for Describing Sources According to the RDA Standard. She has been a member of several working groups for the preparation of professional guidelines in the field of cataloguing. She is also a lecturer and mentor. She conducts training courses for librarians on working in the shared cataloguing system and advises cataloguers and authors on the entry of bibliographic data.
